Japanese Chin Club of the Carolinas

Snow Camp, NC 27349

Welcome to the official Japanese Chin Club of the Carolinas (JCCC).  We work to encourage relationships with Carolina Japanese Chin owners and promote  responsible ownership, activities and care for your Chin.  We believe that collaborating with local Chin owners in an effort to facilitate mutual support is essential for our Chins to thrive in happy and loving environments.  We hope you enjoy learning about this playful and energetic breed.  We will strive to keep our members abreast of pertinent information and show details.

February 6, 2010

Dear Officers and Board of the Japanese Chin Club and Members:

As President of the Japanese Chin Club of the Carolina I would like to inform you that our Club as of February 5, 2010 has achieved license status with the AKC and we are now approved to hold point shows.

We are looking forward to our first point specialty pending AKC approval on Friday, April 9, 2010 with the Associated Specialties of the Piedmont in Charlotte, North Carolina.  We have the honor to host Mrs. Charlotte Patterson as our Specialty Judge with Ms. Cherie Boice judging our Sweepstakes.

Our Club members have worked very hard to achieve this status in such a short time and we are very much looking forward to maybe one day hosting the parent club for a National Specialty in the Carolinas in the future.

Thank you,
Carla Jo Ryan

Message From the President

First of all I want to apologize for not getting this done sooner.  I have no real excuses; just not something I often do and just was not sure what to write.  After thinking about it for months, I feel a little more comfortable to have my views about club objectives and my opinions in public print.  HA!

The Japanese Chin Club of the Carolinas has not only grown but has also developed exceptionally well since its inception in 2007.  The formation of a Club in the NC area was something that Linda, Sue and I frequently talked about over the years as we anticipated our move to the abrrea, I was not all that ready to jump into a new club after having being involved in so many other clubs over the years I have been in dogs.  I wanted to be sure that our club focused on benefitting the breed, education, support to our members and just plain fun.  I made this very clear to
our members at our first meeting and assured the members that my experience in clubs would aid in meeting these goals.  I am reassured that with the
contributions from the club group we have established, only good things filled with fun and excitement will be coming down the road.

We have gone through our fun matches, "B" matches and our first "A" match with flying colors and are looking forward to our next "A" match in November at the Concord shows.  Hopefully we will be able to do our first point show at the Piedmont in the Spring.  We have a group of hard workers who have made this successful and fun, and I really want to applaud them and their efforts thus far.  Thank you, thank you, thank you.

We had to place a new VP due to Charla's illness.  While placing Cherie Boice, an exceptional member, to this position we also made Charla Cross our first honorary member for life.  Thank you Charla.  Thank you for all your years of service and dedication to our breed and for all your hard work through rescue and your Cross Chin.  You are always in our thoughts and prayers for a less complicated life with more good days than bad in battling your illness.

Our Officers and Board are in touch quite often.  We are asking the Board and Officers to again start holding online meetings.   We tried this once through PalTalk but there were too many glitches with internet servers and firewalls so we are switching to AIM/AOL.  Please delete PalTalk and download AIM/AOL http://www.aim.com/download.adp  Download AIM 6.9 and follow instructions for download, pretty self-explanatory and PLEASE make a Screen Name as noted below!!! )

Then, make a screen name of your name or kennel name to be able to identify you uniquely as YOU....i.e.. Carla Ni Kokoro).   AIM, a free service through AOL, is a premier chat site that allows private CHAT rooms which will enable us to have private meetings. Just make sure you email me at
carlaryan@bellsouth.net to tell me your Screen Name so that I can put you on my Buddy List to be able to invite you to the private chat room.  My screen name is carlanikokoro which will look like Carla Ni Kokoro when you put it on your buddy list.  I will send out an email to the members with everyone's name coinciding with the member name so that you can know who is in the chat room.

Our members can also share their experiences or seek advice through our Forum on this site.
We encourage our members to share this delightful breed through our site by participating in our free online chat room (Chin Chat), sharing photos and brags, contributing information to educate other fanciers and sharing their experiences.  To join our Chin Chat room, select My Forum, follow the log-in link and select the new member link.  Once your membership in the chat room is approved, you can begin chatting with all your friends.

We look forward to the future and making this Club a source of information and fun for the owners of our beloved Japanese Chin.  Thank you all for making this possible.
