Welcome to the official Japanese Chin Club of the Carolinas (JCCC).  We work to encourage relationships with Carolina Japanese Chin owners and promote  responsible ownership, activities and care for your Chin.  We believe that collaborating with local Chin owners in an effort to facilitate mutual support is essential for our Chins to thrive in happy and loving environments.  We hope you enjoy learning about this playful and energetic breed.  We will strive to keep our members abreast of pertinent information and show details.

From our President, Carla Jo Ryan

Hi Everyone,

What a busy time we have had since our supported entries in Concord in November.  Thank you EVERYONE (and I mean you all out did yourselves) for contributing to the Bake Sale and to the Bag Raffle.  We came away with close to $400 (The treasurer's report will give the exact amount).  Thank you thank you!  We are going to take a look at our efforts in the bag raffle thing as we are competing with several other breed groups and rescue groups.  The Chinese Crested group had large baskets and a limited number of them and seemed to have done a little better than we did in that event.  IT is thought that we might do the same thing and raffle off the baskets full of many items instead of one thing at a time.  If you have any ideas, we sure would like to hear them :)  The Bake Sale was totally awesome and we sold everything we had and we had plenty!! SO thank you again for your support.

One thing we must think about as a Group is that we MUST support our two weekends, either in donations or entries, to keep our treasury going and our privilege in the Cluster.  It is ONLY two weekends a year and your support is needed and appreciated.

Everything is approved at AKC for our Specialty weekend in Concord and all information is into MB-F for the Premium List.  Again, our SPECIALTY is March 31, 2012 with Mr. Kamisato from Japan and Puddleby Japanese Chin doing our Breed regular classes, and Mrs. Anne Julie Botten from Norway, High Chin will be coming to the United States for the first time and she will be doing our Sweepstakes, Puppies AND Adults.  The All-Breed shows start on Thursday, March 29, 2012 with Columbia KC, Friday, March 30, 2012 with Columbia KC, Saturday, March 31, 2012 with the Greater Monroe KC, our Specialty/Sweeps in the afternoon and Sunday, Salisbury KC with a SWEEPSTAKES for our club with the judging of our Breed.  Mr. Robert Black is an AKC Delegate and a judge and he is going to be getting toys and the Greater Monroe KC have asked us to hold a sweeps for that Sunday also for Mr. Black.  We are SUPPORTING the entry for ALL FOUR DAYS, so this is giving you 5 times to get majors, so save your pennies and spread the news to get a great entry for that weekend.

We also will be having a couple of Japanese Chin running in Agility, so PLEASE plan on supporting them, it is great fun to watch and it will be wonderful for the agility Chin to hear clapping and cheering :)  We will be having a meeting and it will be sent time and etc. when we get closer to the event.

Also during that weekend, it would be nice for everyone to come together and have lunch together upstairs at the Buffet, it is great food and there is plenty of room and LARGE tables, it is a great meal and friendship for $10.

Linda has contacted a hotel to be the "host hotel" for the Club (she can give information in email and to the website).  They have rooms blocked for our Club and also have a room we can use in the evenings and we can order pizza's in and have some good times in the evening. :)  We are very excited and alot of work from our Committees have been put into this.  We also will be asking for a LARGER Space to be reserved in the Grooming Area and we plan to decorate the area with our  Japanese Gate and such.  Again we will have tables (we will most likely still be in the same spot by the door going into the Show Arena) so we have ordered 3-8 foot tables again for our wares.

I would like to congratulate the winners at the Eukanuba Invitational with Benjie's Max winning an Award of Excellence and Scott's Quake getting an Award of Excellence also!!  One of the other Award of Excellence went to a dog sired by Pat Gerberich's Kasper.  Sue Anne Pietros was in charge of the JCCA Meet The Breed Booth and won a Group 4!  Well done from the Carolinas!! REPRESENT! hahaha!!

Mark Lucas who is provisional will be judging at the Alamance KC on March 22, 2012 at the Raleigh Cluster, so I hope you would support an entry for him so that he can get his License to judge Japanese Chin.  Closing for that week of shows is Wednesday, March 7, 2012.  Ken McDermott, Dawn Vick Hansen are judging that weekend also, so I will be entering those shows.  We have been boycotting the entry there because of the Judges they have picked in the past being mostly provisional judges who have never had Chin before.

February  brings the Greenville, SC shows, and the judges are Mrs. Jean Lade, a Brazilian Judge (so who knows) and Paula Hartinger for Sunday.  We will be entering this weekend and have a General meeting on Saturday time and place to be announced later.

March will have the Raleigh Cluster the week of March 21st thru 25th, our Concord weekend March 29th thru April 1st.

April will have the Piedmont shows on Saturday and Sunday with a provisional judge on Sunday.  The JCCA National Specialty will be held April 27 thru May 1st at the Purina Farms in Grays Summit, MO.  You can keep up with the Parent Club on their website http://japanesechinonline.org/

Just a reminder, we have a new webmaster, Mart Plaxco jmplaxco@bellsouth.net; if you have puppies available or want your kennel information on our website, please contact Mart.  We also have a Members Only Section, so please check it out: www.chinsofthecarolinas.org/.  We also have a Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Japanese-Chin-Club-of-the-Carolinas/225153734211146

Well, I guess that is enough to digest. Have a wonderful, and successful New Year!!  Don't forget your dues are due by January 31, 2012!

Fund Raising at Concord Cluster

Chin related items are great, and since this is an all breed show weekend any type or size dog related item will be very much welcome.

For the Bake Sale, which was our best money maker last year, home baked goods seem to go the best. We will sell any thing you bring but remember, home baked goods sell the best.  The best to bring are home made cookies, cupcakes, muffins, or candy of any kind.  Cakes and pies don't do as well but will be accepted and we will try to sell them whole.

Hope to see as many of you as possible.  One last thing, any help working in the booth will be greatly appreciated.

Best Wishes to all, Ned and Cherie
